2008 PRIORITY: EMERGENCY CARE
2007 was a great second year for NewLeaders. We raised $135,000 for the Emergency Departments, which has been allocated by the physician leadership for selected areas of need. The NewLeaders Steering Committee remains committed to improving patient care in the Emergency Departments and for the second year has chosen the Emergency Departments as its 2008 philanthropic focus.
In 2006, our four Emergency Departments provided the most advanced care
in the New York metropolitan area for over 210,000 residents and visitors.
Annually, over 26% of NewYork-Presbyterian Emergency Department visits are from patients without other access to high quality healthcare. The charitable care NewYork-Presbyterian’s Emergency Departments deliver totals approximately
$90 million annually and directly contributes to saving lives in the New York metropolitan community.
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Emergency Department leadership is continuously exploring new opportunities to improve the patient care experience. As members, NewLeaders will support this advancement through social, educational and volunteer opportunities.
